Welcome to //SNCTALKS, the latest podcast series from //SNCMAG. Through it, we aim to explore the worlds of art and music and their various intersections via an ongoing collection of audio interviews. For the first one, we speak to Futur.Shock founder Karolina Magnusson Murray.

An extension of FOLD, Futur.Shock is a multidisciplinary not-for-profit arts platform that sits at the intersections of club culture and contemporary art. Inspired by Alvin Toffler’s infamous book Future Shock, the program (formally known as FOLD Lab) officially launched in 2020 and was developed in response to our sudden thrust into a digitally dominant world during the pandemic.

Through its innovative programs, Futur.Shock and FOLD are recontextualising the idea of the modern club space and challenging the narrative on how these spaces can be used, offering themselves as an anchor for a broader cultural audience.

During our conversation, we spoke with Karolina about her work and origins, Futur.Shock’s evolution, the restrictiveness of traditional art spaces, and more.
